No, we do not have a rodent problem – we are moving antique farm equipment on the museum grounds today. Some of the old equipment, like this 1920s-era cultivator about to be lifted by a John Deere tractor, squeaks when it moves!
We are clearing an “activity zone” in front of the museum, to the east of the parking lot, where we will set up a welcoming space for summer visitors to the museum. There will be a try-it-yourself irrigation tube setting station, a corn stalk bale fort, a pedal tractor course, and some picnic tables.
In order to create this space, several rows of our antique equipment had to be moved – a big job that is tackled by an all-volunteer crew here at the museum.
This “moving crew” has been very busy at the museum in recent months, as we have needed to relocate equipment several times to adapt to the construction, agricultural/ranching activities, and special events occurring on the museum campus.
Soon, the equipment will find permanent homes in indoor displays, on an outdoor display pad on the east side of the museum grounds, and along some interpretive pathways planned for the museum campus.
Until then, the equipment will likely have to be moved a few more times.
Thank you to all of our “moving crew” volunteers. We really appreciate your help – and your patience!
