It’s the final countdown to the most anticipated weekend here at Legacy of the Plains Museum. In just a few weeks, we’ll be having two spectacular events coming up.
The first being our annual Harvest Festival entering into its 20th year. With it being the year of the bean, it was felt appropriate to be sure that this year’s crop would match up. This is a two-day weekend event filled with all kinds of family fun. We’ll kick everything off Saturday morning at 7am with the Gering Kiwanis Pancake Feed. For a cheap $5, you get all you can eat pancakes! You’ll need that energy for the day’s activities. There are horse-drawn rides, tractor parades daily, a corn maze, and for kids there’s a pedal tractor course, barrel train rides, a hay bale fort, and all kinds of games. And don’t miss your chance to see antique farm machinery in action! You can learn all about harvesting techniques with demonstrations each day! In addition to all of that, we have a potato patch each year where individuals can come out and (for a fee) to pick potatoes.
Admission for the Harvest Festival is $5 per person and it gets you into all the activities and events associated with the Harvest Festival.
Admission for the Grand Opening is separate from the Harvest Festival admission, going up to the new price of $10 and adult 19 and up, $5 for college students with ID, $5 for children 6 to 18 and children 5 and under are free. Please note that if you have a membership card, you get in for free but you MUST bring it with you to get in at the member rate!
To purchase a membership for either yourself or your family, please inquire at the museum. Memberships are good for a full year and after a couple of visits, it will pay for itself. Please help support the museum!
