It was a beautiful day on Sunday, June 4th as several gorgeous classic cars came rolling into the museum’s campus. Legacy of the Plains was the morning “pit stop” for the drivers and navigators. This year’s theme was “Eclipsing 150 Years”, celebrating both Nebraska’s Sesquicentennial as well as the upcoming Solar Eclipse that will pass through the area on Monday, August 21st. With the museum being one of the three eclipse viewing locations (more to come!) and with our Nebraska 150th exhibit, we fit right into their theme, making us prime candidates for a stopping location.

The best part? Because the Legacy of the Plains was a pit stop, we got to sponsor a car. The car selected was a 1935 Studebaker Dictator – a beautiful, bright yellow vehicle. (And considering the museum sports an older Studebaker wagon in the Main Exhibit Hall, it was most appropriate!) The car’s owner is Pete Page of South Dakota. Driving the car was Lanny Baker and the navigator was Kent Dejong, both from South Dakota.
