March is Annual Meeting time and is a time for the membership to get an update on what is going on at the Museum, approve board members, and vote on other business. It is extremely important we hear from our members, as you are some of best resources we have for improving the museum.
The meeting will be held on March 19, 2020, at 7:00 P.M., and will be held at the Legacy of the Plains Museum, 2930 Old Oregon Trail Road, Gering, NE.
If you are not a member or you are not current with your membership, you can purchase/renew anytime up to the day of the meeting. Contact the office at 308-436-1989 to make sure you can participate.
Our agenda will include two main considerations. First, the membership will consider the slate of board members up for reelection, and second the membership will consider a proposed changes to the Legacy of the Plains Museum’s bylaws. Below is an explanation of the bylaws process.
On October 17, the Legacy of the Plains Board of Directors (the “Board”) had a lengthy discussion regarding the Bylaws of the museum, and it was decided that a committee should consider reviewing and, if necessary, updating, the original Bylaws, created on August 23, 2012, prior to the official merging of the Farm and Ranch and North Platte Valley Museums on January 1, 2013. By a unanimous voice vote, the Board tasked the Executive Committee with said review and revision. The Executive Committee solicited comments from Board members and used said comments to propose amendments to the Bylaws. On January 10, 2020, the Executive Committee emailed a copy of its proposed amended Bylaws to the Board prior to the regularly scheduled January 16, 2020 Board meeting. After another discussion period at that meeting, the Board voted 10-3 to send the original bylaws with the proposed changes as indicated to the Legacy of the Plains Museum membership for their consideration.

At least 10 percent of the registered members must vote for a decision to be made. You are urged to attend the Annual meeting. Your vote is important!
