Today is the big day – March 1st! 150 years ago today, President Andrew Johnson issued a proclamation declaring Nebraska a U.S. state.
Yesterday, Legacy of the Plains held a special early birthday party for our great state by hosting a small party for the community. For $1.50 for nonmembers for three hours, visitors could see the new permanent exhibits in addition to the new Nebraska Exhibit! (And of course with some Kool-Aid and cookies!) The event was a success and proved to be an afternoon of family fun.
While this exhibit will be up all year, what you see on display will constantly be changing. This is because there is just so much to show that honors our great state. So be sure to check back often!
So on this day, we’d like to wish the state of Nebraska a very happy 150th birthday, and we look forward to many, many more birthdays to come!
