Legacy of the Plains Museum is looking for a part-time grounds/maintenance person to join our staff. The positions will be working with our Buildings and Ground and Agriculture Committees ensure our museum stays in working order. This rewarding position assist us in providing a wonderful experience for our visitors, meet people from all over the world, and assist with our mission of preserving the history of our area.
The duties will include:
- Preforming basic maintenance on/in museum grounds
- Mowing, weeding, and watering certain parts of the grounds
- Snow removal and salting of sidewalks
- Assist set and take down for events and rentals
- Assist volunteer with cleaning projects
- Other duties as assigned
Applicants must possess the following skills:
- Ability to operate grounds equipment including a riding mover, push mower, snow blower, small tractors, weeding machinery, and other basic machines
- Ability to do basic plumbing, woodwork, and other basic maintenance jobs desired, but not required
- Must be able to carry 50lbs
- Independent time management skills
- Ability to exercise great initiative and independent judgment
- Ability to manage several projects and tasks simultaneously
- High attention to detail and accuracy
Requirements:
- Must be able to coordinate repair projects with contractors or businesses
- Work with a variety of staff and volunteers
Compensation: $15.00
Schedule: Schedule will be flexible, but must be available to work Sunday afternoons in the museum. We are willing to work with school schedules.
