Sage has given us our first longhorn calf of the year this morning – a heifer!
What would you name her? Give us your suggestions, along with your name, city, and state, and the museum’s volunteer cattle caretaker will choose one.
We expect more calves to arrive over the next few days. You are welcome to come out to the museum to see our longhorns. They will likely be here for the next couple of weeks, until they move to summer pasture (the museum is still working to develop pasture for them on the grounds year-round).
When you come visit, please:
- Check in at the museum first, so we know you’re here and can give tips as needed.
- BEWARE the electric fence – it *is* turned on!
- Don’t wear your best shoes. At the moment, there is a not insignificant amount of mud on the museum grounds.
Happy calving season!
UPDATE: the longhorns have been moved to their summer pasture. Check back for them in the fall!
